We knew we wanted to make a difference in the world by helping others help themselves through post-secondary education and began researching organizations with a track record of delivering on their promises. We looked for a charity with a long-range vision that operated with both a society and foundation so that our funds would have a long-term impact and be used judiciously. We found the ACCES website and were impressed that they had been established in 1993. We did further research, talked to the Canadian staff, and began to support the organization through donations from our private giving foundation to the ACCES Foundation. Our donations are invested by the ACCES Foundation and annual contributions are made to the ACCES Society on our behalf. We are pleased to help alleviate poverty through post-secondary education in western Kenya and understand that we are making a long-term impact.
